Compy is designed to help Mason, and only Mason. With user-priority mode, it meets his needs and ignores everyone else. But when Compy rolls past a classmate who is hurt, Mason realizes he is being selfish. With one new line of code, he adds the missing element of empathy, and turns his private helper into a caring companion for the whole class.
